Tuesday Talk - Running a Race - 11 February 2025

Published 18:30 on 1 Jan 2025

Phil Warwick, our RYA Principal and an ex-Commodore, is a RYA National Race Officer with a wide background of experience in running racing. He has kindly offered to lead a talk on how to run a good race and will tailor it to reflect Seafarers' events.

Phil will aim to keep this session fun and interactive with the focus on providing some top tips. It will be of interest to competitors and duty crews alike.

An informal discussion around all aspects of how to run racing at Seafarers. This will include:

- Preparation

- Fun, fair and safe sailing

- Provide the competitors a fun race

- Team management

- Course setting

- Mark laying

- Starting and finishing

- Results

This is a great chance to have a drink and share ideas between us. Phil will facilitate the session and offer a few tips on how we can continue to mature the racing 'offer' we provide for members.

If you are not already a Race Officer or an Assistant Race Officer, perhaps this will encourage you to volunteer for one of these roles.

The bar will be open at 19:00 and the talk starts at 19:30

All welcome!
