Cleaning at the Club - We need help!

Published 05:45 on 10 Jun 2025

We all appreciate clean and tidy changing rooms and toilets when we come to use the clubhouse, whether for sailing, rowing, social, or crafting activities. However, the clubhouse does not clean itself (wouldn't that be nice?) and hence we need volunteers to join a cleaning roster. Unfortunately, the appeal in March was not very successful; there are currently only two members on the roster.

Cleaning the clubhouse takes no more than a couple of hours once a fortnight and can be done at any time when activities are not taking place; weekdays and/or evenings are ideal. The more volunteers we have the less strain there is on individuals, so we really need your help please.

Any club member can volunteer. However, as some cleaning products can be harmful, the lead volunteer should be an adult. Cadets may help but should be supervised.

Tim Garlick joined the roster last year and has cleaned the clubhouse several times; he rather enjoyed it.

Tim is organising cleaning this year. He has pinned a roster to the notice board in the kitchen. This will allow you to put your name and number against one or more fortnightly slots during the sailing season. If you haven't done this before, Tim will join you on your first "shift" to show you where the cleaning equipment is kept, explain what is required, etc.

Look out for the roster in the kitchen.

If you have any queries, please contact Tim (here)
