Pickle Night Celebrated in Style

Published 01:00 on 24 Oct 2021

Last Saturday's Pickle Night was a fantastic success, enjoyed by all 39 club members who attended. Huge thanks and admiration must go to Tim Wadham and John Hamon for transforming our Lounge into a 19th century schooner.

After a bumpy start, when the oven in the galley of HMS Pickle malfunctioned at a crucial moment (with 40 cold pies waiting to be cooked), in true Seafarer's tradition it was all hands on deck to rescue the day. Congratulations to Carol, Viv, Joy, Debbie, Trudy, Heather and Teresa in the galley for coming up trumps in very stormy conditions. Not forgetting, of course, Bev and Martin keeping the crew well oiled.

The MC for the night Lieutenant John Lapenotiere (aka John Hamon) controlled and amused the rowdy ratings with his wit, jokes and clever repartee that included the history of HMS Pickle.

After a hearty meal members enjoyed table skittles, bagatelle and shove halfpenny. A selection of photos can be found in the Gallery using the following: link (here)
