Development Sailing - 14 June 10:00 -12:30 on the Water

Saturday 14 June 10:00 to 12:30 on the water
The Club's RYA Level 1&2 and YSS Training Courses finished last weekend (8 June). Inclement weather significantly limited the time trainees could spend on the water. This first Development Sailing session of the season will be primarily for their benefit. Overseen by Steve Sharp, the Club's Senior Instructor (Sailing) (Desig), supported by some of the Club's Instructors, the aim will be to consolidate their training in a developing environment and, thereby, improve dinghy sailing skills and raise confidence levels.
Other Club members are welcome to make use of the opportunity for practice sailing. Subject to volunteers coming forward, there should be a shore coordinator and beach crew to help, plus a tractor and a patrol boat available.
For the rest of the season, Development Sailing will take place from 11:00 on most Saturday mornings until the end of the school holiday. It is very similar to, the now traditional, Practice Sailing with the difference that, hopefully, an RYA Dinghy Instructor or Assistant Instructor will be available. Reservation is not mandatory but if you intend taking part you are encouraged to book via WebCollect (here).
Practice Sailing sessions are available on Tuesday evenings from mid June to the end of the school summer holiday.
Those interested in Practice Sailing or Development Sailing might also find the Coaching sessions of value.
Development Sailing is a "self-help" activity; those who make use of it will, naturally, want to help run it occasionally. Volunteers are required to act as coordinators, patrol boat drivers and crew, tractor drivers, and beach crew. A volunteer RYA Instructor would also appreciated. If you are logged in, the Duty Roster for this event is visible at the foot of this page. To volunteer, simply scroll down and click on the appropriate Volunteer button. Alternatively, go to the Duty Roster, scroll to the appropriate day and click on the appropriate Volunteer button.
Each session will be subject to a minimum of three dinghies, a wind strength of F4 or below and sufficient volunteers to run it. For more detail read the Practice Sailing section of the SOP or go to the website Practice Sailing page.
