ILCA Open Meeting a Great Success

The ILCA Open Meeting last weekend was the Club's first open meeting since August 2012. Thanks to the efforts of Nathan Stanier, our Racing Secretary, Phil Warwick, our own NRO, plus a host of hard working volunteers, the event was was a marked success. A total of 26 competitors from 8 Clubs, including 11 from Seafarers, enjoyed the excellent conditions. One of the visitors wrote afterwards:
"Some days there is barely water under your keel. Today wasn't one of those days. With a building breeze and more clear blue skies, Seafarers - hosting their inaugural Grand Prix - was a perfect setting for Big ILCA Sunday. With almost equal numbers in each of the three rigs, 26 sailors had a stomping sail. A great pre-Nationals warm up for the Masters - but represented with youth and Seniors. There were some masterclass displays in all three rigs - in the Radial, watching Chloe and Ben match race the last race was inspiring. And, for me, a first traveller together with No. 2 daughter ensured there was no chance of catching the keel on the bottom today. Thanks to all at Seafarers - the fresh-baked scones were sooo good."
