Discover Sailing
Background
The national governing body for the sport of sailing is the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). Two RYA initiatives, Push the Boat Out and Try Sailing, both aimed at anyone interested in getting into a boat and out on the water, were merged in 2020 into one with the new name Discover Sailing.
Discover Sailing is run by RYA Affiliated Clubs and Training Centres. It is aimed at complete beginners as well as more experienced sailors looking for a way back into the sport or interested in finding out more about their local club. Families, children, partners, individuals, groups of friends everyone is welcome.
Discover Sailing at Seafarers Sailing Club
Seafarers SC is a small, friendly club formed in 1961 to encourage the sport of dinghy sailing by the provision of racing, cruising and training for everyone, regardless of age, experience or ability. By taking part in the Discover Sailing initiative, the Club benefits from a national campaign run by the RYA to promote an interest in our sport, provide a service to the local community, generate awareness of the Club and encourage membership.
If you have any questions contact Phil Warwick, RYA Principal and Chief Instructor (Sailing).
