2025 One-off Sailing Events » Bart's Bash Race
Bart's Bash is the flagship annual event of the Andrew Simpson Foundation. The Foundation was inspired by the late Olympic Gold and Silver medalist Andrew 'Bart' Simpson MBE. Its ethos is to facilitate a wider participation in sailing, and to optimise the benefits that the sport can deliver to young people and ultimately to society at large. Importantly, it seeks to be as inclusive as possible by encouraging participation by children and young people from all backgrounds and by catering for a range of physical and educational abilities. The results from races at thousands of venues are merged to make "Bart's Bash" the largest sailing race in the world. It connects sailing communities across the globe in an annual mass participation campaign.
On Saturday 13 September, the Edie Sampson Trophy Race and the Bart's Bash Race will be run almost back-to-back. The Edie Sampson Race will be a pursuit race. The start times will be taken from the 2025 Pursuit Times table with a 12:00 nominal start and, conditions permitting, a 90 minute race. Our Bart's Bash race will start at 14:00. The format will be that of a Club Combined race ie one fleet (fast and slow not separated) and average lap time scoring.
Entry to the Bart's Bash will be free-but a donation of the order of £2.50 to the Andrew Simpson Foundation would be appreciated.
