This aerial photograph of Hill Head taken in December 1969 does not show the old clubhouse or club dinghies on the beach. However, if you go to the new Club History webpage, you will find a similar photograph taken one month earlier that does! If you have read the Club's Golden Anniversary Booklet , you will recognise the words. However, most of the pictures are different.

Last season saw the Club run a course for the younger cadets alongside its YSS level 1 & 2 course. In December it was announced that, following on from this, and to encourage our local youngsters to become involved in sailing, the Club had enrolled onto the RYA Onboard Scheme . In January the RYA have published an article in their websites " News & Events " section welcoming Seafarers to the scheme.

Despite light winds and a grey sky, the New Year's Day race was a success. Seventeen members took to the water in eleven dinghies. In addition to the OOD, DOOD, PB crew and tractor driver, a further seven volunteers (plus one Collie) helped on the beach and in the signal tower. What an evening we had on Tuesday! First off was a performance of Christmas carols by the Club's own minstrels. The audience joined in. This was accompanied by mulled wine and mince pies ensuring that everyone was in the Christmas spirit. For December, January, February and March, Sunday bar opening will be restricted to the first Sunday of each month except when there is a special event eg Commodore's At Home (23rd February). The bar will continue to open from 8pm to 10:30pm on Tuesday evenings except 24th December (Christmas Eve). If in doubt, check Upcoming Events on the website Home page or the Programme .

The on line Club Archives now have their own menu button labelled (appropriately!) Archives . The archives include several sources of information about Seafarers Sailing Club since its foundation in 1961 including newsletters, the minutes of general meetings, lists of prize winners and more than 12,000 photographs . The usual beginners course (RYA National Sailing Scheme Level 1 & 2 [Start Sailing/Basic Skills] and RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stages 1 -4]) will be run in late May 2020 and is now displayed with full details on WebCollect: Beginner's Sailing Course May 2020 and will be available for booking on 1st December. If your membership details change eg you move house, replace your mobile phone or change your email address, you should update your WebCollect "account". Unfortunately, WebCollect will not automatically notify the Administrator of such changes. Thus, for example, the Membership Directory will not be updated. So, after updating WebCollect, please tell David, the Membership Secretary , that you have done so.
