Webinar - Becky from the QHM

2nd February 2021, 19:30 - 20:30

Seafarers Sailing Club operates in waters that are under the jurisdiction of the Queen's Harbour Master, better know as QHM. Last February, Becky Walford, the Port Safety Officer Assistant came down to the Club and gave members an interesting insight into the work and role of QHM.

Becky has kindly agreed to join us again, albeit virtually this time. She will talk more broadly about her sailing experiences, whilst also returning to QHM matters. Becky will provide an introduction and then Phil Warwick, our Commodore, will act as a moderator for questions. Please post any questions in the 'Q&A' section during her talk and then, at the right moment, Phil will enable your audio to ask your question. Participation will be via audio only, so no need to worry about cameras.

The Zoom webinar will will last about an hour. Most members are now familiar with Zoom. If not, you will need to download the software. It is all very straightforward; you will find our webpage Introduction to Zoom useful.

You will need to REGISTER IN ADVANCE - sooner rather than later please - simply follow this Link. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

This should be a really interesting evening that will also help build our relationship with QHM and, most importantly, support broader initiatives to enable safer sailing in the Solent.

The pictures below illustrate a collision between a Wayfarer from Seafarers SC and a Dale Nelson 38' motorboat in the Solent in September 2007. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of QHM Portsmouth who initiated the subsequent investigation and prosecution by the Ministry of Defence Police.
