On the Big Screen - SailGP Talk - Tuesday 6 July
Published 21:25 on 2 Jul 2021
Members are invited to come down to the clubhouse next Tuesday, or relax after Practice Sailing, to enjoy an interesting talk on our big screen. The talk is available to RYA members and Clubs only.
The RYA has arranged for Great Britain SailGP Team's Grinder, Matt Gotrel and SailGP Inspire Programme's, Tom Herbert-Evans to tell you all you need to know about SailGP ahead of the third event in Season 2, taking place in Plymouth, 17-18 July.
This is a unique opportunity to hear from Matt Gotrel who returned to sailing after winning an Olympic gold medal in rowing in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He has since competed as a Grinder in SailGP since the inaugural season and in the America's Cup with the British Challenger in Auckland.
You'll also find out about the intense, nation versus nation championship in identical, foiling F50s, plus the SailGP Inspire programme and how it supports sail racing, learning and careers, as well as the journey possible through the RYA.
There is no need to book. However, to comply with the Club's current Covid restrictions, the number of members in the lounge will be limited to 18 and the 6 person/2 household guidance is to be followed.
The bar will open at approximately 7:30pm. The talk begins at 8:00pm and will last about one hour.
