Practice Sailing - starts Tuesday 17 May

Published 13:00 on 10 May 2022

Practice Sailing will begin again shortly with the first session on Tuesday 17 May. Although aimed primarily at Cadets and Novices, these sessions provide an opportunity for anyone that fancies it to go for a gentle sail with Patrol Boat cover. It is possible that there may be experienced sailors or instructors around to informally offer guidance. This will depend upon who turns up or if a prior arrangement has been made.

Each session will be subject to a minimum of three dinghies, a wind strength of F4 or below and sufficient volunteers to run it. The sessions are from 18:30 to 20.00 on Tuesday evenings until the end of August. It is hoped to also provide some Saturday Morning Practice Sessions. Precise dates and times will be published in the Practice Sailing Programme.

For more detail read the Practice Sailing section of the SOP or go to the website Practice Sailing page. The Club Boats page may also be relevant. To book a Club Boat, go to WebCollect.

This is a "self-help" activity; those who make use of it will, naturally, want to help run it occasionally. Volunteers are required to act as coordinators, patrol boat crew and tractor drivers for each session. To volunteer, go to the Duty Roster, scroll to the appropriate day and click on the appropriate Volunteer button.

If you have any questions, please contact Bill Cunningham, our Commodore.
