Half Ton and Polar Cup Races - Saturday 17 July
Published 12:15 on 13 Jul 2021
The Half Ton Cup race was introduced in 1979 to encourage helms aged 50 or more. The Polar Cup was first presented in 1988 to the winner of a race for helms under 50 years of age which was sailed on the same day as the Half Ton Cup race.
For several years, the number of participants in the Polar (Under Half Ton) Cup race has been disappointing; over the last five races the average entry has been only three and, therefore, the probability of winning has been high. More than 70 Club members will be under 50 years of age on 17 July. If you are one of them, why not enter this race? It takes place next Saturday.
