Health and Safety Policy and Procedures

Last year (2007) the Club was inspected by a member of Fareham Borough Council's Environmental Health Division. The purpose was to check our compliance with legislation related to food hygiene, health and safety and licensing. The inspector identified one area where improvement was required and four other areas where some change was recommended.

Having made the necessary changes, it seemed appropriate that the relevant policies and procedures should be formally documented. To achieve this, the Club's Health and Safety Policy was reviewed and updated.

The document titled "Health and Safety Policy and Procedures" comprises a five-page main body supported by nine annexes. Two annexes, dealing with Sailing and Training, have still to be completed. A pdf (Acrobat) version of the main body may be downloaded by clicking here. A complete (paper - with annexes) version is kept in the clubhouse.

As a Club member, how does this affect you?

Firstly, all members are required to :

In addition, you should be aware of any specific policies that apply to you eg "Members and guests aged 17 or less shall not be allowed to use the kitchen, or bleach, unless supervised." These all appear in the "Policies and Procedures of Note" table which begins on Page 3 of the document.

Please address any questions or comments on this subject to the Honorary Secretary.
