Welcome
Welcome to Seafarers Sailing Club website.
The Seafarers Sailing Club is a small, friendly club formed to encourage the sport of dinghy sailing by the promotion of racing, cruising and training. The clubhouse is situated on the Solent between Hill Head and Lee-on-Solent overlooking the Isle of Wight. The Club has approximately 130 paying members. As the majority have "family" membership, the number of people entitled to use our facilities is over 200. There are over 100 boat spaces in the compound which is usually just sufficient to meet members' demands. See About SSC for more details.

- RYA Community Award
- Members will be delighted to learn that Edie Sampson has been selected for an RYA
Community award in the Lifetime Commitment category. This prestigious award recognises
her outstanding commitment and dedication to Seafarers Sailing Club over many years.
The RYA Community Awards, launched in 2002, recognise the exceptional voluntary contribution given by individuals. These awards, seen as the 'MBEs' of our sport, are given to people who make a real impact at local, grass roots level. (In November 2007, fifty-three Awards were presented by HRH the Princess Royal.)
Edie's presentation will take place in London in late November 2008. In the meantime we all offer her our heartiest congratulations for an award that is most thoroughly deserved.

MEMBERSHIP REVIEW
At the 2008 AGM, you will be invited to ratify changes to the current membership and fee structures. The Committee hopes to finalise the details shortly based upon the recommendations of the Membership Working Group and input from members. The Committee would particularly like to hear your views on discontinuing the Senior Member concession, on continuing to charge "single" members the same fee as "family" members and on the removal of the right of "family" members to a second vote. If you intend to submit a comment on these issues, or on any other aspects of the review, please do so as soon as possible.

- Dinner dance a Lee-On-Solent Golf Club. Choice of menu and dancing to a disco. Lounge suits or formal dress. The cost is £28-00 pounds per person and must be paid to Trish before the event. Your Choise of menu can be made when you pay.
