How to Find SSC
Seafarers Sailing Club is situated mid-way between Hill Head and Lee-on-Solent. Its is conveniently located at one end of a public car park and a public slipway provides access to the beach. SSC is fortunate in its location in that it is possible to lauch and retrieve boats at all states of the tide. The proviso is that when lauching or retrieving a boat at low tide there is the incline of the slipway to negotiate and an expanse of beach. There is some sand exposed at low tide which can be soft but this can be avoided by staying to the much firmer stony areas. On spring low tides the extra beach exposed can entail a walk of some distance.
The club invested in a small tractor during the 2007 season and this is used to recover boats from the beach to the top of the slipway.
If the tractor is out of commision then the duty crew provides willing helpers before and after the race to pull the boats across the beach.
Although the public car park is quite large on hot summer days parking in the afternoons may well require inventive parking solutions ! Cars are not permitted to park in the boat compound.

The following directions are for those visiting SSC from some distance away and both sets of directions start from the M27.
From Junction M27 Junction 10
Head south following the directions towards Gosport. Stay in one of the two right hand lanes on the first section of dual carriageway. Look out for the speed camera on this section of road. After going over the first flyover stay in the left of the two right hands and continue straight to a roundabout with traffic lights. Turn left onto the A32 towards Gosport. Go straight on at the first roundabout. The road for the next few hundred yards is dual carriageway. Move into the right lane as the road divides and the right hand lane takes you over a bridge into Newgate lane. Go straight on at the next two roundabouts. Continue to the end of Newgate Lane which ends at a large roundabout. Basically turn right here which is the third exit towards Stubbington. Continue to the next roundabout and turn left. After about 200 meters turn right into Bells Lane. Continue along Bells Lane to a mini-roundabout and go straight across. After a few hundred meters Bells Lane takes a sharp turn to the right with a road, Salterns Lane, branching off straight ahead. Continue straight into Salterns Lane. After about 50 meters take the turning to the right into a car park. SSC is located at the far end of this car park.
From Junction M27 Junction 9
Head south following the directions towards Fareham, Titchfield and Park Gate. At the next roundabout take the second exit towards Titchfield and Fareham. Continue straight at the next roundabout. After descending a hill go straight on at the traffic lights. After the traffic lights move into the right lane as you start to ascend the hill. Move into the turn right lane and continue through the traffic lights starting to descend the hill. After about 50 meters turn left into Stubbington Lane. Continue straight along Stubbington Lane until you come to a roundabout. Go straight across both this roundabout and the next one. After about 200 meters turn right into Bells Lane. Continue along Bells Lane to a mini-roundabout and go straight across. After a few hundred meters Bells Lane takes a sharp turn to the right with a road, Salterns Lane, branching off straight ahead. Continue straight into Salterns Lane. After about 50 meters take the turning to the right into a car park. SSC is located at the far end of this car park.
