- Care must be taken when crossing deep water channels; shipping cannot manoeuvre so always give way. The main channel (and ferry route) into Southampton Water which you will cross just north of Calshott Castle can be particularly busy.
- Approaching the entrance to Ashlett Creek North Channel boats will rendezvous off the 'Fawley' red buoy. Proceed to the public slip and quay in a convoy (but maintaining several boats length spacing). The Creek may be busy with many craft navigating the channel. Try to keep away from them, even if they are under power, as it is restricted water.
- With enough water, the south channel can be used for the return journey.
- The 'buddy boat' system is encouraged.
- The wearing of buoyancy aids is mandatory.
- The inflatable rollers will be taken.
