Cadet Representative

Meet your new cadet representative, Nathan Stanier.

At the recent AGM I took over from Emily as your new cadet representative. I regularly sail a Buzz with my father and I also have a Topper. I occasionally sail the club Topaz. This is fun to sail and I would recommend it to all cadet sailors. I go down the club most Saturdays and Thursday evenings. Unless I have heaps of homework, I will also be there on Tuesday evenings when the fun sessions begin again. I hope to get more cadets involved in these.

I am 14 years old and in year 9 at Crofton School. I have been sailing for 4 years and I have RYA levels 1 and 2. I am currently doing an RYA day skippers course at school. Apart from sailing, my hobbies are model trains and boats.

My main ambition as cadet representative is to get more cadets on the water. This does not have to be racing; it can be just sailing for fun. In this way I hope that you will improve your sailing skills and will become more interested in club matters. My hope for the future is to increase the number of cadets involved within the club on a regular basis.

There is a cadet forum/message board on the Seafarers website.

I hope that this message board will become a convenient way for us to keep in contact with each other, get advice and share interesting and fun stories.

Now to a more important question. What do my fellow cadets want to get out of the club? A few ideas:

Let me have your ideas and I will see what can be done!

Should you have any queries about being a cadet then please do get in touch with me and I will do my best to help you.

Last but by no means least I would like to thank Emily for her time as our cadet representative and wish her well in the future with her swimming and triathlons.
